KARACHI: The staff of Pakistan Customs of internationals arrivals Jinnah International Airport made a record revenue collection of Rs. 18 million in respect of duty & taxes which is 573 percent higher than the correspondence period of the previous year.
In their continuous efforts to curb the menace of ‘khepia’ traffic at airport, the custom staff, beside seizure of contraband goods worth million of rupees, have also realized duty & taxes in certain cases.
During July-December (2012) the revenue collection surged by 176 percent to Rs58.121 million while value of goods seized stood at Rs20.707 million, which is 366 percent higher than Rs4.437 million in the same period last year as no of seizure cases increased to 45 from last year’s 38 cases.
During the period under review, there were 61 cases of liquor seizure and liquor worth Rs0.351 million was seized.
